Little FriendIt wasn’t hard to tell that she was lying.  The blushed cheeks.  The red-rimmed eyes.  The faint rosy tint painting the tip of her nose.  She just sat there…nodding in agreement to whatever she was asked.  ‘I hate him, mama…’ she sniffed quietly; thoughts screaming as loud as words.     
She was nine years old, almost to the day.  And in her eyes—at the moment, a cloudy haze of rain clouds much like those in her favourite bed-time story—she was, not quite a grown-up, but very close to it.  And as a very nearly-grown-up, Little Friend

Time is drawing short.

Consciousness is grasped tight.

The faint sigh of aching notes on ivory keys low in pregnant black clouds enchant me.

Time is found lacking and desire is waning to waste a moment more here.
